An Aperient is an herb that acts as a mild or gentle laxative, softening the stool without acting as a purgative.

Commonly used aperients include Agar Agar, Figs, Flax Seed Licorice Root, Olive Oil, Prunes, Raisins, Rose Hips. [1]
