Bitter

Bitter herbs are a category of herbs that both have a bitter taste and are reported to have healthful digestive properties.

Bitters stimulate the bitter receptors at the back of the tongue, which leads to the triggering of a numer of reflex actions, including the stimulation of digestive juices. [1]

Common bitter herbs include Barberry, Boneset, Chamomile, Dandelion, Gentian, Goldenseal, Hop, Horehound, Mugwort, Rue, Southernwood, Tansy, Wormwood leaves and Yarrow flowers (Achillea millefolium). [1][2]
