Lotion

A lotion is a preparation intended to be applied to unbroken skin. Most lotions are emulsions - oil-and-water preparations kept from separating by the inclusion of an emulsifier. Cetearyl alcohol is a commonly used emulsifying agent in lotions. Lotions can be used merely as emollients or may be used to deliver herbs / medications to the skin.
